In a bid to make it 100% certain that 2019 is his year, Devin Haney, 21-0 (15 KOs), faced off against undefeated South African, Xosilsani Ndongeni, 25-1 (13 KOs). This was the first major boxing event to kick off the new year via ShoBox: The New Generation. The fight took place at Stageworks in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Haney dropped Ndongeni in the second round with a solid right hook that was perfectly timed as Ndongeni was off balance. Haney controlled the next few rounds against the game Ndongeni to include hurting him to the body in the fifth. Haney dominated thru the remainder of the fight and went all in to get the knockout in the latter seconds of the 10th though Ndongeni was able to hang on. In total, Haney out-landed Ndongeni 237 to 123.
Officially, the judges scored the fight 100-89 twice and 99-90 giving Haney the unanimous decision victory. He moves forward to improve upon what’s poised to be a big 2019.

The co-featured bout saw Ruben Villa, 15-0 (5 KOs), defeat veteran Ruben Cervera, 10-1 (9 KOs), via unanimous decision. In the opening fight of the night Frank Sanchez, 11-0 (9 KOs), defeated Willi Jake, Jr., 8-2-1 (2 KOs) via knockout at 2:59 of round two. The fight has just resumed after a 15+ minute delay due to the ropes collapsing.
