War ready! That’s the motto when fighters step through the ropes. This will be the case when Super Middleweight contender Demond “D’bestatit” Nicholson, 20-3-1 (19 KOs), makes his return to action on March 8, 2019, facing off against Jessie “Beast” Nicklow, 27-9-3 (9 KOs). The Jeter Promotions card will take place at the Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover, Maryland.
This fight will mark Nicholson’s second time headlining at the Maryland Live! Casino, and the second time an actual boxing event has taken place at the state of the art venue. In Nicholson’s previous fight at the venue, he knocked out Brazilian, Isaac Rodrigues, in the sixth round of their all-action clash on CBS Sports Network in front of a sold out crowd.
Nicholson has since picked up another knockout victory over Mexico’s Fernando Castaneda in December, 2018. Earlier in 2018, Nicholson faced off against Super Middleweight contender Jessie Hart in a losing effort, in another exciting match-up. Having fought three times in 2018, Nicholson will be looking to keep up the pace as he aims for a shot at a major title.
Nicklow is looking to rebound from a knockout loss to undefeated Trevor McCumby in August 2018, his only fight of 2018. The 31-year-old Nicklow has the opportunity to advance his status with a win over a peaking Nicholson. The task at hand will hefty for Nicklow as Nicholson sports a 95% knockout percentage in his 20 career wins.
Nicklow is a veteran of 39 bouts and his knockout percentage, as it pertains to his victories, stands at 33%. It’s not always about knockouts in the sport of boxing as one’s skill-set can help to overcome many situations a fighter faces during a match. Nicklow has been in with a number of top caliber fighters in his career. For him, this will simply be another day at the office. That said, a puncher can go a long way in the sport of boxing, check the history.
At the end of the day, though, all is settled when the two men meet in the ring. Everything prior to the fight could essentially go according to plan, but a single punch can change the landscape of everything in the sport of boxing. Boxing is the hurt business and both will come in looking to advance their careers and move on to bigger and better paydays. With that, the best man will triumph on that night.
