Adam Stewart, 8-1-1 (5 KOs) was in control early to start his heavyweight matchup with Helaman Olguin, 8-3 (2 KOs). The two suffered two head clashes during the first round with the latter causing a gash under the right eye of Stewart, who was fighting in Las Vegas, NV for the first time.
It was Olguin who took charge in the second landing a few solid overhand lefts and rights that Stewart was yet to find an answer for. Olguin thin started the third with a solid right uppercut that surely got Stewart’s attention as reacted by stretching his mouth/jaws. Stewart was on the front foot to this point as he had Olguin backing up for the majority of the first three rounds of their six round fight.
Stewart started the fourth aggressively with his jab as he looked to shift the momentum. As the round wore on Olguin took the fight in close where there was a lot of tying up and holding as he used his weight on Stewart. He was still able to get off his overhand left in spurts. The fifth round was similar to the fourth as both fighters were visibly gassed. Through it all, Olguin was the one who was still throwing shots after brief reprieves.
Stewart looked a bit more energized in the sixth as he stalked forward behind his jab, landing though not with bad intentions. Olguin, though, spent the majority of the round backing up as he gasped for air and leaned on Stewart any chance he could. Stewart finished the round on the offensive in what could have been the deciding round in the fight.
When the scores were read won a unanimous decision with scores of 57-57, and 58-56 twice, moving his record to 8-3.
