Rob Brant, 24-1 (16 KOs), came in with explicit intent on leaving as champion. Brant dominated the entirety of the fight and dethroned Ryota Murata, 14-2 (11 KOs), in what would have been his second defense. Murata took a lot of damage and it was apparent as his face was bruised, bloody, and swollen.
Having had a less than stellar showing in the World Boxing Super Series at 168 pounds, Brant seems to have found his ideal weight. He moves on to take on other big names in the division.
